Borno State Imposes Movement Restrictions on Eid Day

The Borno State government has announced a temporary restriction on movement across the state on Eid Day, which will be enforced from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This decision, approved by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, aims to ensure peace during the Eid prayer celebrations.

The restriction will affect vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles. The Nigerian military has issued warnings regarding possible terrorist attacks in crowded areas across the state.

In a statement, Commissioner for Internal Security, Usman Tar, informed that the measures are being introduced to strengthen security during the Eid festivities. Residents are advised to attend prayer grounds closest to their homes, and movement will be limited to those identified as essential workers, including security personnel and emergency responders.

The governor urged compliance with the directive and called on parents and guardians to caution children against actions that could disrupt public peace. Governor Zulum reaffirmed the administration's commitment to security, reconstruction, and resettlement efforts in Borno State.
