Governor Zulum Calls for Improved Hajj Commission Synergy

During a report review in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum of Borno State stated that the state government would analyze the document to evaluate successes and challenges from the previous Hajj pilgrimage. He pointed out that the lack of synergy and collective decision-making among commission members was a significant challenge.

Complaints indicated inadequate collaboration between permanent and non-permanent members and officials. Zulum stressed the importance of regular consultations and inclusive decision-making, particularly involving non-permanent members, whom he considered key stakeholders.

He committed to convening a meeting with both member groups to discuss the report and improve Hajj administration. Professor Yakubu Yunus, Executive Chairman of the Borno State Hajj Commission, expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for his support.

He noted that the commission had engaged stakeholders to develop a roadmap for enhancing pilgrims' welfare and had introduced internal reforms that revealed outstanding refunds owed to pilgrims from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Hajj exercises.
