Zulum Advocates Fairness in HOPE-SP Program Launch

At the official launch of the HOPE-SP program organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Borno Governor Abubakar Mohammed Zulum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this initiative, which aims to tackle socio-economic issues linked to insecurity and insurgency in Nigeria. Zulum highlighted that poverty, illiteracy, and social inequality are significant drivers of insecurity.

He asserted that military action alone is insufficient to resolve insurgency, stressing the importance of addressing socio-economic and political dimensions. Zulum pledged the support of subnational governments for the program's successful implementation but warned of challenges such as poor beneficiary selection.

He urged the Federal Ministry and implementing agencies to establish clear vulnerability criteria for selecting beneficiaries to ensure transparency, inclusivity, and fairness, ensuring that aid reaches those in genuine need.
