Parents Share Ordeal of Lassa School Abduction

In Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, parents and a freed victim shared their harrowing experiences following an attack on Government Day Secondary School by suspected ISWAP terrorists. During the assault, nine students and a teacher were abducted, while a soldier and a local hunter lost their lives in the ensuing gun battle.

The community's grief intensified when security personnel returned without the remaining captives, leading to emotional scenes as parents, including Adamu Lassa, expressed their anguish. Adamu's wife was inconsolable upon seeing their child's school bag.

The community remains determined to continue sending their children to school despite the threat of terrorism, appealing to the federal and Borno state governments to intensify rescue efforts. Additionally, a girl abducted from Mussa Primary School was able to escape after her abductors fled due to a motorcycle breakdown.

The list of 36 abducted students includes 11 males and 25 females, with ages ranging from 14 to 18 years.
