Abia State Government Seals Globacom Offices Over ₦4bn Tax Debt

The Abia State Government has sealed Globacom offices in Umuahia and Aba over a ₦4 billion tax debt. This action follows the company's failure to remit the outstanding tax liabilities to the state's coffers.

The enforcement exercise was carried out by the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue Service (ABIRS) following a valid court order issued by the High Court of Abia State. The court ruling mandated Globacom to settle a total sum of ₦4,048,748,880, representing unremitting taxes over a 12-year period from 2010 to 2022, with an additional 10% annual interest on the debt.

The Abia State Government, through ABIRS, emphasized its commitment to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring that corporate citizens fulfill their fiscal responsibilities.
