Benue Government Denies Blocking Peter Obi's Visit

The Benue State Government has issued a strong denial of claims made by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), that he was obstructed by state-linked thugs from reaching Yelewata to console families affected by attacks in 2025. Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alia, labeled Obi's allegations as unfounded and a desperate attempt to involve the governor and the people of Benue in a potential internal political conflict within the NDC.

Kula questioned the credibility of Obi's account, suggesting that the absence of formal security coordination for a presidential visit undermined the seriousness of the allegations. He firmly rejected any association between the Alia administration and thuggery, asserting that the governor relies solely on recognized security agencies.

Kula urged the public to disregard claims linking the state government to incidents involving Obi, emphasizing that Benue remains welcoming to all Nigerians who come in peace.
