APC Condemns Blockade of Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) faction in Benue State condemned the reported attack and harassment of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, during his visit to Makurdi on Tuesday. Obi was in the state to express condolences to families affected by the Yelwata massacre when he was blocked by youths.

The APC called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to apologize to Obi, President Bola Tinubu, and the people of Benue for the incident, which they claimed could tarnish the party's reputation. The state government, represented by Commissioner for Information Solomon Iorpev, accused Obi of failing to notify them of his visit.

Kula Tersoo, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, expressed skepticism about Obi's visit and denied any association with thuggery. Daniel Ihomun, the state publicity secretary of the faction led by Austin Agada, alleged that the youths were mobilized by the Alia administration.

The APC emphasized that the incident was not reflective of Benue's culture of hospitality and respect.
