DSS Schedules Arraignment for Nasir El-Rufai on Cybercrime

The Department of State Services (DSS) has set February 25 for the arraignment of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik confirmed the date, with the case assigned to Justice John Tsoho, marked as FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026.

The DSS has filed three counts of criminal charges against El-Rufai, accusing him of unlawfully intercepting telephone communications that threaten national security. The allegations stem from an appearance he made on Arise TV on February 13, where he admitted to being associated with the interception of communications from the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

The charges include failing to report the unlawful interception and compromising public safety through the use of technical equipment. This legal action follows El-Rufai's earlier detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations, from which he was granted administrative bail.
