Wike Endorses Tinubu, Critiques Amaechi Ahead of 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, publicly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, arguing that Tinubu embodies the "brotherhood" principle defined by former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. Wike referenced Amaechi's past assertion that brotherhood is based on identifying with others' problems rather than blood ties.

He criticized Amaechi for failing to support Rivers State during his tenure as Minister of Transport under former President Goodluck Jonathan, specifically citing the unappointment of Professor Kechuku Anuchuku as vice chancellor at the University of Port Harcourt despite Amaechi's influence. Wike also condemned Amaechi for relocating a federal university to Daura, suggesting it was a political maneuver.

In contrast, Wike praised Tinubu for appointing vice chancellors for educational institutions in Rivers State, asserting that these actions reflect true brotherhood. Wike concluded by stating that the people of Rivers State would vote for Tinubu in the upcoming election.
