Gunmen Attack INEC Centre in Osun, Steal PVCs

On Monday afternoon, gunmen attacked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Osun State, disrupting the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at Oyinlola DC Primary School, Ward 2. Approximately 10 armed men fired gunshots into the air, causing panic among residents and electoral officials, which forced them to flee.

The Osun State Police Command reported that the attackers escaped with three packs of PVCs. Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi described the incident as a threat to the electoral process and stated that the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, condemned the attack and ordered an immediate investigation.

Security agencies have initiated a manhunt for the suspects and are intensifying efforts to recover the stolen materials. Ojelabi confirmed that tactical and intelligence assets have been deployed, and residents were urged to report any suspicious activities to assist in the investigation.
