BREAKING: NNPP’s Alhassan wins Kano by-election, defeats APC by over 10,000 votes

Ali Lawal Alhassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has emerged as the winner of the Kano State Constituency by-election, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate by over 10,000 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Alhassan the winner after he secured the highest number of votes in the election held on Saturday, August 16.

The victory strengthens NNPP's position in Kano State politics, signaling its rising dominance in the state. However, the electoral process was marred by controversy, with allegations of violence and voter intimidation raised by the APC and PDP.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of at least 100 suspects linked to political thuggery in Bagwai. Despite the tensions, NNPP supporters celebrated the win on social media, with Alhassan dedicating his victory to the people of Bagwai Shanono and pledging to prioritize legislation addressing infrastructure.
