Over 100 'Imported' Voters Arrested in Osun State

Over 100 suspected "imported" voters were arrested by security operatives in Osun State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. The individuals were reportedly found at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing the Irewole-Isokan Constituency, carrying newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

During questioning, Ibrahim admitted that the group was at his residence to vote for the Accord Party. This incident occurs amidst rising political tension in Osun, with various political actors alleging intimidation, violence, and electoral irregularities.

The Accord Party's National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, previously petitioned the European Union regarding a worsening political crisis, claiming that 29 people had been killed in election-related incidents and over 60 Accord members arrested. Governor Ademola Adeleke announced plans for an independent commission of inquiry to investigate violence associated with the election, expressing condolences to families affected by the violence.
