INEC Uploads Peter Obi's Name as NDC Presidential Candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded Peter Obi's name to its portal as the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This development follows a recent court ruling by Justice Isa H.

Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which set aside a previous order that compelled the commission to deregister political parties. The court nullified the registration of the Peace Movement Party, which claimed exclusive ownership of its logo.

NDC leader Seriake Dickson announced the appeal application and confirmed that the party remains validly registered. He stated that the upload of Obi's name alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party's flagbearer for the 2027 general elections, was completed successfully.

Dickson urged party members not to panic and emphasized that the electoral body, led by Professor Joash Amupitan, is adhering to court directives. The upload of the vice presidential candidate's name is expected to be finalized shortly.
