INEC Restores NDC Nomination Portal Access Amid Legal Dispute

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored access to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) nomination portal, confirmed by the party's national leader, Senator Seriak Dickson, on Tuesday. This development comes amid a legal dispute concerning the party's status after a recent judgment from the Federal High Court in Lokoja.

Dickson disclosed that the NDC has filed a notice of appeal alongside an application to stay the execution of the court's ruling, insisting that the party remains legally recognized. He explained that relevant legal documents have already been submitted to INEC, urging the commission to act in accordance with the law while the appeal is determined.

Dickson emphasized that the NDC is committed to participating fully in the electoral process, including conducting primaries. He also noted that the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has already been uploaded to INEC's portal, with vice-presidential candidate details to follow.

The deadline for submitting candidate names is set for July 17, and Dickson reassured party members of sufficient time to complete submissions.
