Tinubu Holds Emergency Security Meeting Amid Rising Threats

On Thursday evening, President Bola Tinubu held an emergency security meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, gathering the country's top military commanders and intelligence chiefs to review Nigeria's deteriorating security situation. The closed-door session lasted two hours and aimed to assess security challenges across various operational theaters and evaluate ongoing military responses to emerging threats.

Attendees included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Defence Moham Badaru Abubakar, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and other senior security officials. This meeting follows recent military operations against terrorists and bandits, including a significant operation in Zamfara and Katsina states.

The military reported neutralizing a notorious bandit commander during these operations. The last similar meeting was held in March, where assurances were made regarding significant gains against terrorist elements.
