Senate to Confirm Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as CBN Deputy

The Nigerian Senate is preparing to confirm Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). His nomination was made by President Bola Tinubu last week.

During the Senate's plenary session, the Banking Committee, chaired by Adetokunbo Abiru, conducted a screening of Yuguda, who has previously served in important roles, including as Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Senator Osita Izunaso moved a motion to allow Yuguda to bow before the committee, which was seconded by Senator Sarafadeen Alli.

The committee found Yuguda suitable for the position, and a voice vote was conducted to confirm his nomination. The Senate is expected to finalize the confirmation in the coming hours, setting the stage for Yuguda's appointment as Deputy Governor of the CBN.
