ADC Warns Government Over Court's Deregistration Ruling

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a warning to the government after a Federal High Court ruling, delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, ordered the deregistration of the party along with three others. The ADC, represented by its National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed alarm over the judgment, claiming it undermines democratic principles and conflicts with the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) previous affirmations that the ADC met all legal requirements for registration.

The party views the ruling as a calculated attempt to eliminate credible opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second term bid without contest. The ADC plans to petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) and challenge the judgment in court, emphasizing that the ruling disregards a subsisting court order from May 22, 2026.

Additionally, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State condemned the ruling, labeling it an abuse of court processes and urging citizens to remain calm as the matter is set for appeal.
