Families of Abducted Victims Plead for Government Action

Families of 13 individuals abducted on April 15, 2023, while traveling from Biu to Maiduguri, have made a heartfelt appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the safe return of their loved ones. The spokesperson for the families, Hassan Yati, addressed the media in Maiduguri, expressing the deep pain and uncertainty experienced over the past 60 days since the abduction.

The victims, including women and children, were ambushed by suspected ISWAP and Boko Haram insurgents. Yati highlighted the emotional toll on families, including a mother who was carrying a seven-month-old baby at the time of the incident.

The families acknowledged recent government efforts that led to the rescue of 360 abducted women and children in Ngosh but emphasized the need for urgent action regarding their loved ones. They urged the government and security agencies to expedite the release process to alleviate their suffering.
