Nigerian-British businessman dies after surgery in Thailand

Igho Ubiribo, a 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, died following a penis enlargement procedure during a holiday in Bangkok, Thailand. The procedure involved injecting 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at an unnamed clinic in March.

Afterward, Ubiribo experienced chest pain during a massage at their hotel and lost consciousness. He was transported to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he initially responded to questions but lost consciousness before a CT scan could be performed.

Despite over 100 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the intensive care unit, he died in the early hours of March 6. A postmortem examination revealed cellular material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the procedure, leading the coroner, Jean Harkin, to rule that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic surgery.

His medical history indicated he was pre-diabetic and had gout, but no other significant conditions were reported.
