Buhari's Concerns Over Tinubu's Background Revealed

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed that late former President Muhammadu Buhari had intelligence reports regarding President Bola Tinubu's educational background and genealogy, which led to his concerns. However, Lawal noted that Buhari recognized Tinubu's significant contribution to his rise as Nigeria's president.

During an interview with Symfoni TV, Lawal explained that he reminded Buhari of Tinubu's support during critical political moments. He recounted the 2014 APC presidential primary, where initial calculations suggested Buhari might lose the party's ticket to candidates like Rabiu Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar.

Lawal and other leaders sought Tinubu's support, presenting data on Buhari's electoral performance in northern Nigeria. Tinubu's persuasion of other party leaders, including Murtala Nyako and Aliyu Wamakko, was pivotal in securing the necessary votes for Buhari at the APC convention.
