Buhari Media Office Denies PFIPC Allegations

The Buhari Media Office (BMO) has dismissed allegations linking former President Muhammadu Buhari to the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), labeling the claims as false and lacking factual basis. The BMO stated that Buhari did not create any agency named PFIPC or allocate ₦1.3 billion to it in the 2026 Appropriation.

Instead, the only body established during his administration was the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), which functioned as an ad hoc advisory committee on economic issues. The PEAC operated without a dedicated budget line and was funded through presidential approvals to the Minister of Finance.

It was chaired by Professor Doyin Salami and included notable members such as Professor Mahmuda Sagagi and Professor Chukwuma Soludo. The BMO emphasized that the PEAC members did not receive salaries and that the council's operational expenses were covered by the State House.

Following the transition to the current administration in 2023, the PEAC was neither dissolved nor reappointed, with members considering their tenure concluded with the previous administration.
