Budget Office: PFIPC Established Under Buhari, Not Tinubu

The Budget Office of the Federation, represented by Director-General Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, stated that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) was created during former President Muhammadu Buhari's tenure, specifically on October 9, 2019, through the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC).

This clarification was made during Yakubu's appearance before the House of Representatives in Abuja amidst scrutiny of the PFIPC, which has been declared illegal by the Presidency and is under investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Yakubu emphasized that the Budget Office did not create or facilitate the establishment of the PFIPC but acted based on pre-existing official documents from relevant government agencies.

He noted that the PFIPC initially proposed a personnel budget of over N3.85 billion, which the Budget Office rejected, conducting an independent assessment that reduced the allocation to N802.978 million based on approved staffing levels and public service salary structures.
