CAC Suspends Company Registration Portal After Cyberattack

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) announced the temporary suspension of its company registration portal following a cyberattack that compromised millions of data points. The portal will be unavailable from April 17 to April 20, 2026, as part of a critical maintenance effort aimed at strengthening system security.

The CAC stated that the maintenance will occur over the weekend, starting at 12:00 midnight on April 17 and concluding at 6:00 AM on April 20, 2026. During this period, the portal may be temporarily inaccessible.

The CAC is collaborating closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency to mitigate the impact of the incident and reinforce its digital infrastructure. Additionally, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission has launched an investigation into the data breach to assess its scope and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

This incident has raised fresh concerns about cybersecurity risks within Nigeria's digital public infrastructure, particularly regarding government services transitioning online.
