Yesufu Urges Atiku to Control Supporters' Attacks

Aisha Yesufu, a supporter of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to rein in his supporters, who she accused of attacking Obi's supporters on social media. Yesufu made this appeal in a post on X on Tuesday evening, expressing her disappointment as she has also been targeted.

She highlighted the importance of political decency and sportsmanship, especially since she and Atiku previously worked together in the same political party. Yesufu criticized the attacks as distractions that undermine their political objectives, urging a united front against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

She warned that her camp would be prepared to respond if the situation escalated. Yesufu, who moved with Obi from the ADC to the NDC, had sought the NDC ticket for the Federal Capital Territory senatorial seat but was unsuccessful.

She indicated her role in Obi's 2027 campaign would differ from her previous involvement.
