Bishop Yohanna Calls for Peace Among Niger Tribes

Bishop Bulus Yohanna, the Niger State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria and Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, called for an end to the violence between the Kambari, Fulani, and Bargawa tribes in Agara and Borgue local government areas. In a statement, he condemned the killings and destruction of properties, emphasizing that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands.

The Bishop noted that the ongoing clashes have resulted in numerous deaths and homelessness in the Borgu Emirate, attributing the violence to external infiltrators. He appealed to the tribes to remain calm and work with security agents to identify and remove these individuals.

Additionally, he urged the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammed Dantoro, to establish peace and conflict resolution committees. Bishop Yohanna commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umaru Bago for their efforts to enhance security in the affected communities.
