PDP Achieves 90% Candidate Upload Ahead of Deadline

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully uploaded 90% of its candidates for the upcoming 2027 governorship and state assembly elections, as confirmed by Honourable Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary. This achievement comes ahead of the August 8 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP is preparing to field candidates in 31 states for governorship positions and for all 36 state Houses of Assembly, totaling 62 names per party. Concerns had been raised regarding the parties' ability to meet the deadline due to the increased number of candidates compared to previous elections.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP), chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, reported that it has uploaded over 85% of its candidates, totaling 1,211 across various elective tiers. The LP expressed confidence in meeting the August 8 deadline without significant issues.
