CAS Hearing Set for Senegal-Morocco AFCON Title Dispute

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has set a hearing date for October 8 concerning the dispute between Senegal and Morocco over the title of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The controversy arose after Senegal's 1-0 victory over Morocco in the AFCON final, during which some Moroccan players walked off the field due to a disputed penalty decision.

Following the match, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruled that Senegal violated regulations by leaving the field without approval. Consequently, a disciplinary committee decided in March 2026 to void the match outcome, awarding a 3-0 victory to Morocco, thus declaring them the AFCON 2025 champions.

Senegal contested this decision, arguing that the disciplinary outcome should not affect the results of a completed match. The Senegalese Federation is appealing to CAS to reinstate the original match result.

Representatives from the Senegalese Federation, CAF, and Morocco will present their submissions at the arbitration in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the final decision still pending.
