Caverton and ExploMar Partner to Electrify African Waterways

Caverton Offshore Support Group, represented by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Olabod Makanuola, has entered into a strategic partnership with ExploMar to electrify Africa’s waterways.

This collaboration was formalized at the prestigious Shanghai Boat Show, where a new order was signed for 20 electric engine battery systems and the development of innovative onshore charging infrastructure. Makanuola described this partnership as a defining moment for regional transport, emphasizing the need for a standardized, scalable electric ferry platform tailored to the operational realities of Africa's emerging market waterways.

He highlighted the underutilization of Nigeria's waterways, where millions remain trapped by road congestion. The partnership aims to create a new operational model that is viable in real-world conditions, with pilot operations already underway in Lagos.

Alex Dong, CEO of ExploMar, expressed pride in collaborating with Caverton to transform maritime transport in Africa, which presents significant underserved opportunities for sustainable transport solutions.
