CBN Denies Claims of New N5,000 Note Featuring Tinubu

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has officially responded to viral claims about a new N5,000 banknote allegedly featuring the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The claims, which circulated widely on social media platforms such as X and WhatsApp, prompted significant public interest and speculation.

In its statement, the CBN categorically dismissed these claims as false, labeling the viral content as misleading. The apex bank emphasized that no new currency denomination is being introduced and urged the public to remain calm while avoiding the spread of misinformation.

The CBN reiterated the importance of relying on verified information from official channels and warned against unconfirmed reports that could mislead the public. This clarification follows previous similar claims regarding the introduction of new banknotes, which the CBN also described as false.
