Celestial Church Disowns Pastor Arrested for Drugs

The Celestial Church of Christ has distanced itself from Pastor Afolabi Hodonu after his arrest alongside his wife for allegedly possessing 11 kg of skunk. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested the couple on Thursday at a checkpoint in Lagos.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman, stated that the arrest followed an earlier incident on March 30, where a fake security agent, Samuel, was apprehended with 24.5 kg of skunk. The church's media representative, Kayod Ajala, confirmed that Hodonu and his wife are not affiliated with the mainstream leadership of the Celestial Church, led by Reverend Emmanuel Oshoffa.

Ajala expressed concern that the church's name was being associated with such a "despicable act" and announced the deployment of a task force to investigate the incident further in the Seme area of Badagry, Lagos State.
