Nigeria Automates Academic Certificate Verification Process

On September 8, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced the full automation of the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, effectively ending the requirement for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education in person. This reform, described by the Ministry as a significant step in its digital transformation agenda, allows applicants to complete the entire process online via a dedicated platform.

The initiative is expected to reduce bureaucratic delays, shorten processing times, and enhance transparency in credential verification. Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated that the new system would provide greater convenience for applicants both within Nigeria and abroad.

The digital platform aims to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria's academic certification system and facilitate easier verification for institutions and employers. The Ministry has urged applicants to utilize the official platform at essverify.education.gov.ng for their credential evaluation and authentication needs.
