NYSC Launches Digital Verification to Combat Certificate Fraud

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced a digital verification system designed to combat certificate fraud. This system enables organizations to verify the authenticity of Certificates of National Service, Certificates of Exemption, and Letters of Exclusion online.

The verification process begins with an organization submitting a request through the NYSC verification system, which is processed by the Corps Certification Department's dedicated Verification Division. This initiative aims to create a reliable link between presented certificates and official NYSC records, making it more challenging for fraudsters to use fake documents.

Although the digital system does not eliminate all fraudulent certificates, it allows for discrepancies to be identified, which is crucial for employers requiring proof of national service. The NYSC is also transitioning more services online, including registration and certificate replacement, as part of a broader effort to improve record management and prevent forgery.
