Chelsea and Arsenal Target Nigerian Defender Fernandez

Chelsea and Arsenal are leading the pursuit of Nigerian central defender Emmanuel Fernandez, who has emerged as a sought-after player during the summer transfer window. Fernandez joined Scottish club Rangers from Peterborough United last summer for a fee of £2.9 million.

The 24-year-old has quickly established himself as a standout player in the Scottish Premiership, contributing five goals in 33 appearances and playing a key role in Rangers' third-place finish last season. His impressive performances earned him the club's Player of the Season award.

Despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, Fernandez faces competition from several clubs across Europe, including Belgian champions Club Brugge, Dutch sides Feyenoord and Ajax, Premier League clubs West Ham United and Everton, and German outfit Borussia Dortmund. Rangers currently value Fernandez at £18 million, but reports suggest they demand at least £28 million to consider any offers as interest from major European clubs mounts.
