CHRICED Launches Project to Boost Human Rights Reporting

CHRICED, led by Executive Director Dr. Ibrahim Zikirullahi, has initiated a project to enhance human rights reporting in Nigeria.

This initiative responds to growing concerns regarding the pressure on independent voices and the public demand for transparency and accountability in human rights matters. Zikirullahi stressed that democracy cannot thrive without a free press, and that sustainable development relies on fearless reporting.

He noted that independent media is essential for democratic governance and the protection of fundamental rights. Dr.

Anthony Ojukwu, Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), described the initiative as timely. He emphasized the critical role of storytelling in shaping public opinion and influencing societal responses to ethical issues.

The project aims to empower marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, thereby contributing to a more resilient media landscape in Nigeria.
