APC Chieftain Claims Christians Support Muslim-Muslim Ticket

Farouk Aliyu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed that Christians in Nigeria are becoming more comfortable with the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket. Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television, Aliyu argued that President Bola Tinubu's administration has dispelled fears of religious marginalization.

He reacted to Tinubu's decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential elections, asserting that the APC has already earned the confidence of Nigerians in the last elections. Aliyu emphasized that the decision to maintain the ticket was made wisely and should not be changed to avoid unnecessary political challenges.

He expressed confidence that Nigerians would support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket again in 2027. The APC's choice to field two Muslim candidates in the 2023 elections had sparked significant debate and criticism, particularly from Christian groups concerned about religious representation in governance.
