NACOMYO Defends Tinubu's Muslim-Muslim Ticket Amid Criticism

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has defended President Bola Tinubu's Muslim-Muslim ticket for the upcoming 2027 presidential election, claiming that Christians are the major beneficiaries of political appointments in his administration. In a statement signed by National Secretary Alhaj Mas’ud Ayodele Akintola, NACOMYO responded to criticisms from Christian groups, including the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, National Christian Elders Forum, and Christian Youth Alliance of Nigeria, who oppose the ticket.

Akintola noted that at the beginning of Tinubu's administration, 62 percent of appointments were made to Christians, while only 38 percent went to other religious groups. He cited the recent replacements of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Isiaq Oloyede, with Christians as evidence of this trend.

NACOMYO urged religious organizations to support the government rather than criticize it, emphasizing that Muslims should be the ones raising concerns about appointment imbalances.
