Chukwuma, Ogundiran May Miss World Relays Due to Issues

Rosemari Chukwuma and Bless Ogundiran are facing potential absence from the World Relays scheduled for May 2-3 at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone due to travel eligibility complications. Chukwuma's passport reportedly arrived late at the embassy, disrupting her travel plans, while Ogundiran is awaiting the results of a gene test required for eligibility in the competition.

Christoph Maduewesi, a champion, confirmed the situation to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the National Sports Commission (NSC), which are working to salvage Chukwuma's participation. Chukwuma has a season-best time of 10.95 seconds, while Ogundiran has a personal best of 10.98 seconds.

Their absence could weaken Nigeria's prospects in the women's 4x100m and mixed 4x100m relay events. The Nigerian squad will include other athletes such as Jenif Chukwuka, Miracl Ezechukwu, and others in various relay teams.
