Civil Society Demands Probe into NSCDC Officer's Death

The Nigeria Civil Society Council (NCSCN) has called for an independent and transparent investigation into the death of Deputy Superintendent Levi Agada of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). During a press conference in Abuja, NCSCN Executive Director Bless Akinlosotu emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation to restore public confidence in the criminal justice system.

The council expressed concerns about the circumstances surrounding Agada's death, particularly in relation to allegations involving illegal mining activities and the involvement of a Chinese national. They urged relevant authorities to ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined, including the handling of evidence and adherence to constitutional procedures.

The NCSCN also stressed the importance of maintaining public confidence through professional and fair investigations, reiterating that anyone found culpable must be held accountable while ensuring due process is followed.
