CLEEN Foundation Warns on Kaduna Peace Commission Suspension

The CLEEN Foundation warned that the suspension of the Kaduna State Peace Commission could widen security gaps and weaken grassroots coordination in response to insecurity. Dr.

Saluadeen Hashim, the program director of the foundation, stated that communities in Kaduna continue to face recurring attacks, kidnappings, and killings, making them increasingly unable to recover from security shocks. He emphasized that the absence of effective peace coordination mechanisms further undermines community-level responses.

The foundation urged the Kaduna State government to either restore the commission or establish a functional alternative capable of supporting early warning systems and coordinating community responses to security threats. Peter Maduoma, the executive director of CLEEN Foundation, mentioned that earlier sessions held in March 2026 identified key security challenges and developed a citizen charter.

The foundation aims to strengthen community resilience and improve partnerships between citizens and security institutions to address insecurity effectively.
