CMA Praises Federal Fire Service Reforms and Leadership

The Centre for Media Advocacy (CMA) commended the Federal Fire Service (FFS) for significant improvements in fire safety, staff welfare, operational efficiency, and protection of critical assets across Nigeria. In a statement by Executive Director Mahmud Bello, CMA noted enhancements in maintenance, manpower development, equipment procurement, and fire safety awareness under the leadership of Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi.

The organization highlighted the management's efforts in public awareness campaigns and training, which have boosted staff morale through timely salary payments, promotions, and professional training opportunities. CMA praised the appointment of Ijeoma Achi-Okidi as the first female Deputy Controller-General, reflecting a commitment to merit and gender inclusion.

The FFS has also expanded collaborations with various organizations to enhance professional development and emergency response. CMA recognized the acquisition of firefighting vehicles, upgrades to the Federal Fire Academy in Sheda, Abuja, and practical training initiatives.

The establishment of a task force for building audits was welcomed, and CMA urged increased government funding for the FFS.
