Coalition Critiques Atiku Over El-Rufai Detention Remarks

The Coalition, represented by Kaduna Voice Unit and led by Yariok Makama Goje, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his remarks regarding the detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The Coalition described Atiku's comments as reflecting a double standard, particularly in light of El-Rufai's alleged financial misconduct and intimidation of critics during his governorship from 2015 to 2023.

They expressed concern for El-Rufai's health and welfare while questioning the absence of similar calls for accountability during his tenure. The Coalition noted that El-Rufai faces serious legal challenges, including three charges filed by the Department of State Services (DSS) and ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) related to allegations of corruption and financial misconduct.

The allegations include a claim of 432 billion naira linked to various projects, underscoring the need for thorough legal scrutiny rather than political advocacy.
