Nigerian Army Chief Shaibu Supports Energy Security Efforts

On 23 September 2026, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army, assured stakeholders in the energy sector of the military's ongoing support for a secure operating environment. This commitment was expressed during a courtesy visit by Mr. Tony Attah, Managing Director and CEO of Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, to the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Lieutenant General Shaibu highlighted energy security as a vital aspect of national security, underlining the necessity of safeguarding strategic energy assets to ensure industrial productivity and economic stability. He also emphasized the need for continued collaboration between energy companies and their host communities, commending Renaissance Africa Energy for fostering positive relationships.
