Franco Colapinto Re-Signs with Alpine for 2027 Season

Alpine has re-signed Franco Colapinto for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The announcement comes during a campaign where the 23-year-old Argentine achieved a career-best sixth-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Colapinto will race alongside Alpine's lead driver, Pierre Gasly, next year. Alpine's executive director, Flavio Briatore, praised Colapinto's growth as a driver, citing his performances in Miami and Montreal as evidence of his capability in Formula 1.

Colapinto expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the team's progress compared to the previous year. Alpine, which finished last in 2025, is currently sixth after 12 races this year, with Gasly achieving a podium finish in Monaco, pending a challenge from McLaren.

The team's improved performance is attributed to strategic decisions made last year, including abandoning their 2025 car to focus on a new chassis and switching to customer Mercedes engines after Renault canceled its F1 engine program post-2025. Colapinto previously raced for Williams in 2024 and joined Alpine as a reserve driver in 2025.
