NSC Appoints Ikpeme as Interim NFF General Secretary

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has appointed Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme as the interim General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the resignation of President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi, and the Executive Committee members on Thursday. Ikpeme, previously the NFF’s Deputy General Secretary, will oversee the federation’s Secretariat during this transitional period.

Additionally, Dr Ademola Olajire, the Director of Media and Communications, has been designated as the interim Deputy General Secretary. The NSC has also suspended all activities related to the NFF Elective Congress that was scheduled for September 27, indicating that a new electoral process will begin following comprehensive reforms in Nigerian football.

These reforms will be developed in consultation with FIFA, CAF, the Federal Government, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, the NSC has instructed the chairmen and directors of various football leagues in Nigeria to transfer administrative responsibilities to their Chief Operating Officers to ensure continuity in football administration.
