Concerns Over Edu, Olejeme in Tinubu's Campaign Council

Betta Edu has been appointed as the Director of Women Mobilisation in President Tinubu's campaign council, while Olejeme will serve as the South-South Zonal Director for Election Planning, Coordination, and Mobilisation. Adedeji has been named deputy director of fundraising.

The appointments have raised concerns due to Edu's suspension on January 8, 2024, over allegations of approving the transfer of N585 million of public funds to a private account, which led to an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Olejeme has faced multiple allegations of financial malfeasance, including a money laundering case estimated at N1 billion and accusations of diverting funds from the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) between 2012 and 2015.

Adedeji's role has been questioned due to his position as chairman of a key revenue agency, potentially granting him access to public funds. The campaign council has yet to be inaugurated, and officials have refrained from commenting on the matter.
