Atiku Urges Tinubu to Suspend Umahi Over Habila's Death

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the African Democratic Congress, has urged President Bola Tinubu to instruct Minister David Umahi to step aside in light of the death of 26-year-old Mari Habila. Habila died under circumstances that remain unclear, with no official cause of death announced and no autopsy conducted three weeks after the incident.

Atiku expressed his condolences to Habila's family but insisted that mere condolences are insufficient, as Nigerians deserve answers regarding the circumstances of her death. He criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to demonstrate transparency and called for an independent investigation to restore public confidence.

Atiku also requested that the Inspector General of Police transfer the investigation from the Ebonyi State Police Command to ensure an independent forensic examination. He emphasized the need for measures to protect Habila's family from undue influence and intimidation as they seek the truth about her death.
