Atiku Calls for Suspension of Umahi Over Habila's Death

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party, has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend Minister of Works David Umahi pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of 26-year-old Mary Habila. Habila, a nurse, was reported to have died under circumstances that have raised public concern.

Abubakar expressed condolences to Habila's family and criticized the federal government's handling of the case, emphasizing the need for a transparent investigation. He urged the Inspector General of Police to transfer the investigation to the Force Headquarters and involve independent forensic experts.

Abubakar also called for an independent autopsy to be conducted and made public without delay, ensuring that Habila's family is protected from pressure or intimidation during the investigation. The family has requested that the Ebonyi State Police Command withdraw from the investigation, as they do not suspect foul play.
