Lawmaker Reveals Unpaid Contracts for Constituency Projects

Chinedu Obika, a member of the House of Representatives representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory, disclosed that contractors handling constituency projects are owed payments for jobs dating back to 2024 and 2025. During an interview on KAA Truths, he stated that this situation has made contractors hesitant to take on new projects associated with the National Assembly.

Obika noted that while the president had approved one billion naira twice for constituency allocations, these funds have not been implemented, leading to zero payments for many contractors. He expressed concern over the non-implementation of budgeted allocations, which has resulted in unpaid obligations accumulating over successive budget years.

Obika criticized the current administration's governance, stating that the lack of payment for constituency projects is unprecedented and has created a funding gap that hampers lawmakers' ability to deliver projects. He warned that unpaid contracts could be used to silence lawmakers from criticizing the executive.
