House Extends 2025 Capital Budget Implementation by 3 Months

The House of Representatives has approved a three-month extension for the implementation of the 2025 capital budget, allowing ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) additional time to execute ongoing capital projects. The bill, which seeks to amend the Appropriation Act of 2025, was sponsored by House Leader Hon. Julius Ihonvber.

During a plenary session on Monday, the House considered the bill, which was subsequently reviewed by the committee on supply. Following the presentation of the committee's report, the House adopted the work document and proceeded to a third reading of the bill.

After the third reading, Speaker Abba Tajudeen announced the passage of the bill. The extension is expected to enhance the implementation of the capital budget and facilitate the completion of projects captured in the 2025 budget.

The House is expected to transmit the bill to the Senate for concurrence before it is forwarded to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assent.
