Daura Identifies Key Challenges Facing Nigeria at NBA Conference

Lawal Daura, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), addressed the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday. He identified corruption, ethnicity, religion, injustice, and a disregard for the rule of law as significant challenges confronting Nigeria.

Daura stressed the importance of clearly defining these problems to develop meaningful solutions, particularly for opposition politicians. He noted that while opposition figures may understand Nigeria's challenges, their actions often reflect a disconnect between their understanding and political conduct.

Daura also suggested that opposition parties should collaborate more closely in preparation for the 2027 general elections, referencing Peter Obi's call to reset Nigeria as a sign of converging thoughts among opposition leaders. Furthermore, he questioned the focus on the first 100 days of an administration, arguing that there are no constitutional sanctions for underperformance during that period and emphasized the need for competence in government appointments.
